What You Should Know About Teen Acne Issues

Teen acne problems have been a major skin problem among children now-a-days. When we think of teens, we think of acne. The causes of acne can be related to being a teenager, such as raging hormones and puberty. However, some causes are related to gender, genetics, and skin type.

1. Washing your face 2 or three times a day helps control oil that can cause acne. Soap containing salicylic acid controls acne by exfoliating the top skin layer. This prevents oil from clogging pores making skin look healthier. Salicylic acid is a weakened form of beta-hydroxy, which is used in other treatments such as dandruff. The percentage of beta-hydroxy depends on what is being treated. Soaps containing salicylic acid can dry the skin if skin is sensitive so try using a moisturizer that does not contain oil.

2. Hormones are strong instigators of acne. Boys going through puberty have an increase of testosterone and this leads to an increase of oily skin. Young men may need to wash their faces more than once a day to control the acne caused by hormones and puberty. There are oral contraceptives out on the market today that help young women control their acne by controlling hormone surges during the premenstrual stage.

3. Teen acne problems occur more often than most other forms of acne, in any other stage of life. It is a period in human development where frequent changes happen to the body, especially in case of gender related developments. In some more severe cases of acne, antibiotics and photo therapy may be needed. Blocked pores are a perfect place for bacteria to grow. This causes pain inflammation and infection.

4. A number of other causes include the unexpected factors such as Genetic heredity. If the parents or grandparents were having any such problems, the children are also having the chance to become a victim of teen acne. However, it can be controlled only when the modern medical practices are able to make changes in the genetic code of the going-to-be-born child.

5. It is a little known fact that stress related factors lead to the production of some hormones related to emotional activities. These hormones in turn act as a reason to have teen acne problems.

6. Exposure to some of the harmful chemicals having toxic effects or intake of some medicines having very dangerous side effects though they may be helpful for some other diseases will also act as reasons for teen acne problems, though the level of intensity may vary.
